Canvas: Add a Youtube Video to my Canvas Course

You will be able to add a YouTube video to a Canvas page with no ads or other junk on the page! You can search within Canvas and add to the page easily! Teachers and those using Canvas to create content for others can easily add multimedia to their pages to make them more interesting and fun!

 

Getting the YouTube App

 

  • Go to https://knoxschools.instructure.com (Canvas)
  • Login with AD Credentials.
  • Click on a Course where you are a teacher.
  • in the bottom left of the navigation, find and click on settings.
  • Choose apps across the top of the page.
  • In the search box, type YouTube. Click on the YouTube App.
  • Click “Add the App” and then “Add the App” again!

Now you're ready to add a video to your course!

 

  • Click on Announcements, then click on  +Announcemen
  • Name the Announcement “Kid President Video” by typing the name into the box.
  • Note that in the edit window you will now see the YouTube icon in your toolbar.
  • Click on the YouTube icon, then type Kid President into the search bar.
  • The first video that appears should be “20 Things We Should Say More Often” then click Embed.
  • Scroll to the bottom and Click Save! You are now ready to watch your video!
