List courses on Canvas. First, locate the courses that will be cross-listed. You want to be sure that you are selecting courses that have the same subject, with different students—so different sections of the same subject. For this teacher, both of these courses are the same, so we will cross-list these courses.

Choose one course to be the parent course. This is the course where you will design everything and will hold all of the information. The other course will be the child course and will go into the parent course to bring in those other students.

Start with the parent course. Within the parent course, go to Settings in the bottom left navigation menu. Find the SIS ID and copy it. Now go back to the other course, the child course. Go to Settings in the bottom of the left navigation menu. Click on Sections, then click inside the section by clicking on the blue words.

Click on "Cross-list this section." Paste the SIS ID that you've copied from the parent course and press Enter. The course will pop up. Select the course; be sure it's the correct course, and select "Cross-list this section." Your sections are now successfully cross-listed. If you have more sections of the same subject, continue to cross-list the SIS ID number from the parent course into the sections of the other courses.
