In this video, we'll be discussing how to create a home page in Canvas and publish it so that when your students click into the course, they can see the home page.

First, log into Canvas and choose your course. For demonstration, let's select the "Summer Course One". Since the course is currently unpublished, let's leave it that way for now so that we can publish it along with the home page. Navigate to the "Pages" section and click on "Add Page". Title the page "Home Page". Now, you can attach links or add images to the home page. Let's upload an image from our computer or choose one from Unsplash. Once uploaded, resize the image as needed to fit the page.

Scroll down to set the editing permissions for the page. You can choose to allow only teachers or both teachers and students to edit the page. For now, let's allow only teachers to edit the home page. Click "Save and Publish" to ensure that the page is published and viewable to students. Remember, saving the page alone won't publish it, so it's important to check for the green checkmark indicating that it's published. To set this page as the home page, click on the three stacked dots next to the page title and select "Use as Front Page".

Now, when you're ready to publish the course, click on "Publish" and choose the options you want to include, such as the home page, course stream, modules, assignments list, and syllabus. Then, click "Choose and Publish". Your course is now published with the home page set as the landing page for students. You can verify this by navigating back to your dashboard, accessing the course, and confirming that the home page is displayed.

And that's how you create and publish a home page in Canvas. Happy Canvas-ing!
