Hi my name is Becky poling I'm a sixth grade math teacher at Bearden middle school. 

Today I'm going to show you how I use tables and canvas pages let me share my screen okay so this is my current home page for my honor students and it's just see I have a banner at the top and as you scroll down I have several different banners that go across the screen and underneath each. They'll be other items things you can students can click on and that would link them to other pages. And if I come up to edit you're going to see how I've used a table to organize that material that is on that homepage. So as you can see that have these dotted lines here and students can't see those but it is a table that everything that I have goes in that way. If there's a link or if there is a description under a picture it stays right under that picture or the link stays inside that cell only. 

So quickly I will show you how you can do this on your own. So you open a new page and I'm gonna add a table. I usually go three to five columns wide you can always add or subtract rows and first thing I want to do is make sure my students can't see that it's a table so I'm going to go to table properties and take my border width to zero then I'll give me dotted lines. Now I'm going to add a banner at the top and I'm gonna do this by highlighting that top row and hitting cell properties, go to advanced, and change the background color. we'll go a dark blue and then I want to say welcome to 6th grade math. But I also want my school logo over here on the left so I'm gonna combine just four of those columns at the top. I'm gonna hit cell merge and it's only gonna do that for that row. I'm gonna Center this top one and I'm going to use my school logo. Its a little large so I'm gonna make a little smaller and then here I'm going to Center my text. Again make it big say welcome to sixth and now we'll make the text white so it's easier to see. And there would be my banner for my new page and then anything else I want to add I can merge cells or put different links to different pages or things outside of canvas in here and the link will stay within the cell.
