You will learn about the Chrome browser. Chrome is Google's web browser. Chrome allows you to explore the web with a consistent experience, no matter what device you're using. Chrome users log into the browser using their Google credentials, and if sync is turned on, they'll see their bookmarks, privacy and security settings, and extensions load across their devices.

Some of the perks of using Chrome are the ability to add extensions that will help you perform specific tasks, the convenience of using Chrome's password manager to create and remember passwords to sites across devices, and the use of the omnibox, which allows you to search the web from the address bar.

Let's see an example here: we're searching for facinghistory.org directly in the address bar. Once the site is located, we can sign up and allow Google Chrome to create and remember a password for our account.

Chrome is the preferred browser in the Knox County Schools, as it is most compatible with the many online tools and platforms in use. Chrome is the only browser available on student Chromebooks. Chromium is a light version of Chrome that is available on teachers' Promethean panels.

If Chrome is not the default browser on your device, you can find directions for changing your browser settings here. You can scan the QR code or type this address to get the directions to establish Chrome as the default browser on your device.
