Hello and welcome to Knox County Schools. My name is Brian Milan and I'm an ed tech liaison here for KCS in this video today I'm going to be showing you how to access your email how to log into Microsoft Teams and how to get all the tools available to you in Office 365.

To get started in my opinion is to start at the Knox County Schools website. So if you'll see up here at the top, it's just KnoxSchools.org. Once you're into the website, you'll see it says staff up in the top right hand corner and you have this option called links. Once you click on links, there's a lot of very useful. So if you'll see here, it says email dash office 365. We're going to go ahead and click that. 

Now I have logged out of my email to kind of give you a better idea of what it's going to look like the very first time that you log in. You should probably see a screen that looks like this and you should have received an email from human resources with your email address. It's most likely going to be your first name dot last name at Knox schools dot org [First.Last@knoxschools.org]. I'm going to go ahead and click next. And then your password should have been sent to you as well so that you can get an initial login and then most likely you will have to change the password once you're along.  

Now the first couple times that you log in, it's going to ask you to verify your ID via your phone number and set up the authenticator.  This happens pretty quick. It'll send you the code. I'm going to go ahead and put in my code. Verify. Now the first thing you want to do is make sure that your ID is not in a space signed in because this is a laptop that I trust. And now it's going to allow me to get into my inbox. Okay, once you log into your inbox, you're going to see that you're in this focus part. This is going to be emails that are specific. Like at least sent from Knox County Schools or entities that deal with Knox County Schools. You may have information in your other box. That is typically sites that have sent you an email that don't drill directly with Knox County Schools.

 A little bit more about the interface. It operates just like a normal email inbox, your new mail. Over here on the left hand side though is a very important app. It's your calendar. So as you progress and you start to add things to your calendar, you're going to see those things pop up here. You can flip through the different months. And I'll, a lot of the times again, it's going to coordinate with your email. So if there's events that are coming up, you can easily attach that over to your email. 

Okay. Couple of different things. You got some shortcuts over here, but I want to show you the full slate of apps. So if you click this app launcher, okay, you're going to get access to a, Couple of different things now that you are a part of Knox County Schools. You have Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PowerPoint, one, know all of these different options in the Microsoft 365 suite. Outlook is your email. And then the other one is Teams. Now there's a couple of different ways that you can access Microsoft Teams. There's an app that you can, download. You can also just type it into the web browser. Me personally, I like to have everything all in one place, so I access it through my email. So I will go into my email, click the app launcher, and then click Teams, and I'll open it in a new browser.

Now, just being added to Knox County Schools, you may not be familiar with Microsoft Teams, but it's an app. It's a platform utilized for teams, such as teams at a different school, to share information. To meet virtually and to share files. Some schools use it more than others, but most all schools will use it to have virtual meetings. Specifically, I know a lot of schools still use it for IEP meetings. So you may hear someone say, Oh, we're going to have that IEP meeting via team. Make sure you log in. This is where you would find that meeting. You would go to your calendar and most likely it would be there or they may have given you an ID to join. You can see here is the join with an ID meet now if you were hosting your own meeting up here over here to the left. You have your different teams. Your specific school may have its own Microsoft teams that you will join or be a part of and all that information if in the team is located there.
