post add-ons allow for additional features and information to be gathered from the posts that you share with families to create an add-on within your post you'll want to start a new post and then on the left hand side you'll see the different add-ons that are available once you've typed in your information within the actual text box of your post you can just select on an add-on such as calendar entry and it will be added to the bottom of your post
a calendar entry will allow a date to be added to your post this is helpful for things like field days or field trips where you want information to be added to a parent's calendar this also gives parents the ability to RSVP to an event so this could be really helpful for tracking apparent participation or just knowing how many people to set up for
once I've added that calendar entry it will be shared with families so they do have the ability to download it to their Google Calendars or their Outlook calendars if they so choose you can also use a post add-on of attaching photos or files this allows you to add images of um information that goes along with your post you can also add student images if you have media releases on file these images can be ones that you already have saved in your Google drive or one that you do a search for or some that you may already have on your desktop
Additionally you can use an add-on called forms and permissions forms and permissions will allow you to upload information that you might need to gather from parents such as if you're doing a field day and you need t-shirt sizes you could just upload a form parents could fill it out it will auto populate with students um information if you select that as an option and then you'll have that data to use for making decisions you also have the ability to ask for items within a post this is really helpful if you are asking for supplies or classroom donations for an event parents very similar to Sign Up Genius
parents can sign up for an item it will also send them reminder emails that they've signed up for an item and then you will be able to track what items are still needed and then lastly requests for volunteers request for volunteers allows you to set up times throughout the day where you could get help from parents for different events that you might be having you can select how long you need volunteers for how many volunteers you need they would still need to have a volunteer forms on file at the school but it will allow you to keep track of who's coming to help it will also send them reminder emails if they've signed up to help within your classroom so post add-ons can be added as multiple features within one post or you could just select one add-on at a time depending on what your post is
