Before logging in to the selection tool, you can review your options by following these instructions

Logging In

The selection tool is in the Knox County SIS Apps Platform:

Log in using your Active Directory credentials:

  • Employee ID will be your 9-digit employee number
  • Password will be the same password used for email and other systems

If you are presented with several app selections, choose Growth / Achievement:

Welcome Screen

You will first be directed to the welcome screen where your name should be displayed. If you see your name, Click “Next page:…” to begin making your selections.

If the page does not show your name, please log out and attempt to log in again. If you need further assistance, contact the KCS Help Desk at helpdesk@knoxschools.org.

At any point, you can return to the previous selection screen Using the “Previous page:..” button at the top of the application.

Select Position

On the next page you will select the option that best describes your position. Your choice will determine the growth options available in the rest of the tool.

Select Grade

You will then be asked to select the grade taught. Your choice will determine the achievement options available in the rest of the tool.

  • For special cases (like alternative schools) a teacher may teach more than one grade level. Select “Multiple Levels” in this circumstances.
  • If you are still unsure, select the grade level in which you spend the majority of your time.

Select Growth Measure

On the next page, you will select your growth measure from the available options.

Select Achievement Measure

The following page will show the available achievement options for your school level. The options are organized by category.

  • “Achievement Scale” metrics are based on the % on Track or Mastered.
  • “Growth Scale” metrics are based on TVAAS levels.
  • “Other Assessments” include data from non TN-Ready assessments.
  • “Other Metrics” include non-test data like graduation rate (only available for high school teachers).

Enter Rationale

You will then need to provide a brief rationale about why you chose your growth and achievement measures. The measures that you select should reflect in some way the work that you do at your school(s).

Note

Selections that are not well-aligned with your position (i.e. numeracy-only metrics for ELA teachers, system-wide metrics for school-based staff, etc.) will be sent to TDOE for arbitration.

Confirming Selections

To confirm your selections, click on the “I confirm…” radio box. Then Click “Submit”.

You can print a .pdf of your selections using the “Print” Button. It is recommended that you print/save a copy for your records.

Editing Selections

If you want to resubmit your selections, log back into the tool and click the “Start Over” button. You will be able to change your growth and/or achievement measures until the selection window closes.

Final Notes

  • If generated, individual TVAAS will automatically be substituted for the growth measure selected. Otherwise, if you do not have enough students to generate an individual TVAAS composite, you will receive the growth measure selected in the tool.
  • Only confirmed selections entered before the deadline can be used for evaluative purposes. Selections that are not submitted will be replaced with the default measures (School-wide Overall TVAAS).
  • Selections that are not well-aligned with your position (i.e. numeracy-only metrics for ELA teachers, system-wide metrics for school-based staff, etc.) will be sent to TDOE for arbitration. You may have to reselect an alternative measure through this process.
