Task 1: New Flipchart

• Launch ActivInspire and the Dashboard
  • If the Dashboard is not visible, select the house icon in the upper right corner of your AcivInspire window.
• Select New Flipchart
• Select the Pen Tool from your Toolbar
  • choose a color from the color palette
  • Right-click on a color for additional choices
• Select the Fill Tool
  • Choose a color from the color palette
  • Right-click on a color for additional choices
• Left-click in an empty area of the Flipchart page to change the background color

Task 2: Main Toolbar

• Select the Shape Tool
  • Choose a shape from the shape window that appears
  • Select the arrows to see additional shapes
• Select an Outline Color from the main toolbar color palette
  • Right-click on a color for additional choices
• Select a Fill Color from the color palette in the shape toolbar
  • Right-Click on a color for additional choices
• Left-click and drag your mouse in an empty area to create the selected shape
• Select the Text Tool
  • Left-click under your shape for the text box to appear
  • Use your. keyboard to type the name of the shape
• Select the Select Tool when done typing
  • Use the text toolbar located at the top of your Flipchart to change the size, color, and font.

Task 3: Customize the Toolbar

• To customize the location and icon size of your Toolbar
  • Select View then Customize
  • Select Layout
  • Choose your preferences on icon size and main Toolbox position
  • When finished select Done
    • You can view these changes in real-time
  • When finished select Done
• To customize the icons and location of the icons in your Toolbar
  • Select View then Customize
  • Select Commands
    • The left-hand menu shows all available icons that can be added to your toolbar. The right-hand menu shows what is already in your toolbar
  • Locate and select Delete from the All Commands Menu
  • Select Add
    • Locate and select Delete from the Main Toolbox right-hand menu
  • Choose Move Up to change the location
  • Select other commands to add at this time, when finished select Done

Task 4: Marquee Handles

• Click on an object with the Select Tool to open the Marquee Handles
• Select and drag a resizing dot to scale an object
  • Selecting and dragging the resizing dot in the bottom right corner will size an object while keeping all other sides in aspect ratio
• Use the following icon guide to explore the object tool bar
  • move freely tool
  • rotate tool
  • object edit menu
  • transparency slider
  • grouped objects button
  • bring objects forward/backward
  • duplicate
  • increase/decrease size of objects
  • edit shape points
• Left click and drag to lasso objects you want to group together
• Customize your marquee Handle by going to View - Customize - Commands. On the right-hand side select the drop-down menu. Select Marquee Handles. Customize by selecting commands from the left-hand menu, then choose Add.

Task 5: Adding Pages

Add another page in the following ways:

• If on the last page of your Flipchart, selecting the Next Page Icon from your main toolbar will automatically add another page
• to insert a page in the middle, beginning, or end of your Flipchart deck select Insert-Page. Choose from:
  • Blank page before current
  • Blank page after current
• Select the grid icon to see your apges in horizontal view
• Add discussion points to pages by selecting the Notes Browser
  • Using a keyboard, type key ideas to discuss or directions for student use
• Once notes have been added, the Notes Browser icon will appear in the top right corner when on that current page
  • Select the icon for easy access to added details.

Task 6: Shared Resources

ActiveInspire has embedded interactive resources available in the Resource Browser

• Select the Resource Browser icon
  • If your browsers are not visible, go to View - Browsers
• Select the Shared Resources Icon
• Select the carrot next to Shared Resources
• Select the carrot next to Activities and Templates
• Select the carrot next to Activities
• Scroll and select Math Activities
• Scroll in the bottom preview window and find Pattern Blocks
• Left-click and drag that activity onto the Flipchart page
  • begin interacting with it
• Select the Page Browser icon to go back to Flipchart pages
• You can also search for subject area resources. Select the Shared Resources icon then Shared Resources Scroll down to Subjects and select the one of interest.

Task 7: Math Tools

Add student interaction by using the embedded Math tools

• Select Tools - Math Tools
• Select Ruler
• Click and drag the ruler to a desired location on the flipchart page
• Place your mouse on the ends of the ruler to change its size
• Place your mouse on the top or bottom of the ruler to rotate it
• Select the Three Dots in the middle to customize the ruler
• When done select the three dots then Close

Task 8: Adding Actions

• Select the Shape Tool
  • Add an arrow shape to the Flipchart page
• Using the Select Tool,  select the arrow shape
  • Select the Object Edit Menu
  • Select Action Browser
• From the Action Browser Menu on the left, scroll and select Next Page
• Select Apply
  • When hovering over the arrow, you will see a play icon
  • Clicking the arrow will take you to the next page in your Flipchart
• To remove the Action, locate and select your Design Mode icon in the upper right
• Click on the arrow and select the Object Edit Menu
• Select Action Browser then Clear

Task 9: Adding Multimedia

In ActivInspire you can insert links, files, and videos. Let's add a link.

• Select Insert - Link - Website
• Enter or copy and paste the web address into the box
• Choose how the link should appear
  • text
  • world wide web image icon
  • existing object on the Flipchart
• Selecting the link as a text you can edit the font and font size
• To test your link, select the Design Mode Button tot change to Present Mode
  • The Red box will disappear from around the link
• Hovering over your link with the mouse will show a play icon
  • Selecting the text or object will open the linked website
