Technology Intentional Damage

Graffiti, Stickers, and Foreign Materials

Intentional damage to technology owned by the Knox County School District is billed to the student or staff member responsible for it.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Damage resulting from devices being thrown
  • Keyboard keys pried from the frame
  • Striking or hitting the device
  • Placing stickers either on the district-provided case or directly on the device
  • Using markers, paint, or other means to alter the appearance of the device
  • Engraving devices or cases
  • Excessive food debris in the device
  • Removing district-provided accessories like screen protectors or cases

Sticker Removal

Beginning with the 2026/2027 school year, if a device is returned with stickers (excluding the asset tag), a fine of $40 will be invoiced to the student or staff member responsible. It is important to remember these devices will be used by many people, and our intention is to hand them to a new user in the best condition possible. The time required to remove the stickers and residue, or the need to buy a new case has necessitated the creation of a fine.
