Video Transcript: Containers

Activinspire containers are a terrific way to create activities for your students. Any type of object can be a container. Just be sure it is large enough to hold the objects it will contain. For example, this is a shape-sorting activity. The smiling square and circle will be my containers and will contain these images. Here is an example of how to contain certain objects but reject others.

We will start by opening the property browser. If your browsers are not visible go to view and select browsers. Property browser is third from the right. First, select the container itself, I will choose the square. And I will collapse all the menus that do not refer to containers then extend the container menu. Now you may decide what the container will contain. In this instance, I will choose a specific object.

Next, click the three horizontal dots to select that object from your flip chart. Let's choose the window and click okay. If you would like to add a reward sound when the correct object is contained. Change the reward sound to true and click the three dots to select your sound. I will choose a sound from the shared resources that come with the Activinspire software and click open.

The container is not complete just yet. Select the object to be contained for example the image of this window and in this container menu select return if not contained and change to true. I will also apply this to the beach ball. Remember that we did not set the square container to contain the beach ball. Now if I try to put the beach ball in the square container It will automatically return to its starting position. Whereas if I tried to put the window into the square container we hear that applause. Continue the same process to contain or reject the other objects on your flip chart.
